Films like any other art form is a medium of largely storytelling. Us humans are traditionally storytellers and thus find different mediums to tell stories. Since the birth of cinema, people tried various ways to make films, giving birth to a huge section of cinema called narrative cinema, which basically means cinema that tell story rather than just giving an experience of moving pictures. In this article we are going to explore meaning of narration in cinema.   To start with, I would like to quote from ‘Narration in fiction films’ by David Bordwell on what is film narration  a chain of events in cause-effect relationship occurring in time and space.   To bring it down, lets assume a situation, there is an ongoing war, a world war, due to which German soldiers are taking Jews to detention centre. सियाही काली है जिससे लिखता, काले आस्मा के नीचे तारों को भी दिखता मैं, जाना उनसे आगे चाहूं, उसने ऊपर चाहूं, एक छलांग और पल के लिए उड़ता मैं। आंखे काली है जो मूंदे रखता, काले चश्मे पहने दुनिया भर से चिप्ता मैं, आइने में खुद को देखूं, फिर ना सोचूं, जंग जारी है इस जहां से लड़ता मैं। रात काली है सारी रात जगता, काले धब्बे से नशे में ही लगता मैं, धुआं बन तेरे पास आऊं, तेरे साथ जाऊं, दिन में शोलों सा सुलगता मैं। जुल्फे काली तेरी उन्हें हाथो मे भारू, काले रबर-बैंड ने जकडा उन्हें आजाद करू मैं, फिर फिसले जाए हाथ ज़रा गर्दन पर, ज़रा कमर पर, कस के पकड़ के क्या तुझसे लडू मैं। मिट्टी काली में हाथ डाले रखलू, काले तेरे काजल को खून भरलू मैं, रगों से राख हो के, खाख हो के, थोड़ा सा ही मर लूं मैं।

With his unique approach to see the world and pen it down in words, Dr. Rahat Indori is by far the most loved shayar of this era. He was one such storyteller who could tell so much with his Shayaris and Ghazals. It amazed me that only one or two line can say much.  Past couple of weeks have been really hard for me and all his admirers. It still is hard to digest the death of the master of the carft. I thought to pay my share of tribute to him as well. But it would be foolishness to write something for someone who has written wonders. So, I decided to interpret some of his Shayaris in my words.  And I quickly Googled compilation of his Shayaris and clicked on the very first result.                               चलते हैं एक नए रास्ते पर, अंजान राहों में किसी का साथ पहचान लेंगे। मिलते है कल फिर यही, तुझको देख कर खुदको संभाल लेंगे। देखते है एक दूजे को सदियों तक, आंखे बंद कर तेरी तस्वीर बना देंगे। करते है ढेर सारी बातें, खामोशियों से हम खुदको जान लेंगे। रुकते है इक नए ठिकाने पर, अपना घर उस पहाड़ पर बना लेंगे। और फिर चलते है और नये रास्तों पर।

Disappointed little Wahid looks upto his dadda, there is fire reflecting off his eyes. He takes big steps from his tiny feet, with a mouth puffed, like a balloon, full of air. Starts to walk away from his father. Stops in the middle of his walk, turns back, like a tiger does. Squeezes his eyes, air from his puffed mouth travels to his nostrils, and because of this phenomenon, shrinking his mouth. Walks towards his father, very cunningly, like a fox. Stops at a radius of 1 meter from his father. "Papu, but I don't want to waste my Sunday here" What, Here where? You had to have a flow to read dude. Oh! Wahid. Yeah. Okay first lemme tell you about Wahid. He is a little boy. Moving on. "But Wahid there are cos----" Just kidding. Wahid, he is 8 years old....
